With a population of around 850 people, it offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and is ideal for relaxing and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. The village has a small supermarket, a daily bakery van, and a fruit and vegetable van visits a few times a week. Though not a major tourist hotspot, the village comes alive on summer evenings when locals and visitors gather at Bar da Pedra to enjoy drinks and some of the best sunsets on the island, and is a surfers paradise during the winter months.
