FUNCHAL

Funchal, the capital of Madeira, is a vibrant and historic city set along the island’s southern coast. Known for its mild climate, stunning harbor, and lush landscapes, Funchal is a mix of old-world charm and modern amenities. PAUL DO MAR

Paul do Mar is a peaceful fishing village located on the western coast of Madeira, about a 40-minute drive from the capital, Funchal. With a population of around 850 people, it offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and is ideal for relaxing and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. The village has a small supermarket, a daily bakery van, and a fruit and vegetable van visits a few times a week. Though not a major tourist hotspot, the village comes alive on summer evenings when locals and visitors gather at Bar da Pedra to enjoy drinks and some of the best sunsets on the island, and is a surfers paradise during the winter months.
